At GISS, we are creating the future today, as we understand that the world of tomorrow will be vastly different from today. Teaching and learning encapsulate the 4Cs’ of education which are creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Our curriculum is forward-looking and designed to empower students to adapt, lead, and innovate in any sphere they find themselves.
We operate a rich and dynamic blend of the Cambridge, Nigerian, and IB curricula, designed to deliver a holistic and internationally relevant learning experience. Our academic programme is both broad and challenging, anchored in a curriculum that is robust, rigorous, and relevant—one that fuels intellectual curiosity, instils a lifelong love of learning, and drives academic excellence. Students are prepared for renowned qualifications such as the International GCSEs, WAEC, and Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations.
Extra-curricular
We also believe that for children to truly thrive, their talents must be nurtured beyond the classroom. Our vibrant extracurricular programme is grouped into sports and vocational skills.
Our sporting activities which include swimming, martial arts, football, volley ball, basketball, Table tennis, and gymnastics are all held after school hours. These activities are intentionally structured to foster essential life skills such as self-confidence, leadership, resilience, teamwork, and healthy competition.
The acquisition of vocational skills is a core part of our offering. Every student is expected to master two vocational or technical skills—one during Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) and another during Key Stage 4 (Years 10–12). This ensures that they graduate not only academically grounded but also practically equipped for life in an ever-evolving world. The vocational skills include Musicianship, Fashion designing, Auto mechanic, Leather Works, Hair making & Grooming, Media and Photography.
Pastoral Care
At Glowfield International Secondary School, pastoral care is at the heart of all we do, showing our commitment to nurturing the total child. Our Well-being department with trained experts in collaboration with form tutors, provides a comprehensive support system that fosters a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Their attentiveness and dedication help foster a nurturing environment where no child is left behind.
Our rich Well-being Education curriculum plays a very important role in supporting the mental and emotional health of our students, contributes to a culture of respect, safety, and inclusion. It fosters life skills like decision-making, stress management, and adaptability and equips our students with the tools to face personal, academic, and professional challenges with confidence which prepares them for a life beyond school.
Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum also plays a vital role in this development, offering students meaningful opportunities to explore the world around them and their role within it. We aim to instil a profound sense of responsibility, community spirit, and self-awareness, encouraging students to pursue excellence in all they do and to treat others with empathy and respect.
Our pastoral care is deeply integrated with our academic program, reflecting our commitment to nurturing both personal growth and academic excellence. At Glowfield, we aim to shape principled, confident, and compassionate young people who will lead with integrity and purpose.
